A tragic accident occurred on Gola Road in Khutar early this morning when a bus carrying devotees from Sitapur to Purnagiri was struck by a dumper filled with ballast. The incident took place at a roadside dhaba where the bus had stopped, resulting in the death of 12 people and injuries to 24 others. Rescue operations, which lasted until 3:30 am, successfully removed the overturned dumper, ensuring no additional victims were trapped. The District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) were on-site to oversee the operations and ensure that the injured received proper medical care.
The injured were transported to various medical facilities, with ten currently undergoing treatment and others discharged after initial care. Two critically injured children have been referred to King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow. The dumper driver, identified as Bhimsen from Jehanabad, Pilibhit, is absconding. Police have launched a search operation to locate him. Authorities have assured financial assistance to the families of the deceased and injured. Post-mortem examinations of the deceased are scheduled to begin after 10 am today, with the bodies to be handed over to their relatives afterward.
